Udgam Foundation is proud to announce the successful completion of its very first initiative—a Two-Day Free Eye-Checkup Camp. This event was organized in collaboration with Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati, on the significant occasion of Rabha Divas. The camp was held at Oja Hemchandra Barua Vidya Mandir, Guwahati, on the 20th and 21st of July, 2024.

The camp was held at Oja Hemchandra Barua Vidya Mandir, Guwahati, on the 20th and 21st of July, 2024.
At Udgam Foundation, our core mission is to serve the community with compassion and dedication. The eye-checkup camp was conceived as a means to provide essential healthcare services to those who might not otherwise have access. With the rising concerns of eye-related health issues, especially among the elderly and economically underpriviledged, we felt the urgency to address these challenges. Our collaboration with Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, a renowned institution in the field of ophthalmology, was instrumental in bringing this vision to fruition.
We are immensely grateful to our Chief Guest, Mr. Rishi Baruah, Director of Sadin Pratidin Group, for gracing the event with his presence. His unwavering support and encouragement were vital to the success of this initiative. The School Organizing Committee members of Oja Hemchandra Barua Vidya Mandir also played a crucial role in the smooth execution of the camp. Their logistical and moral support ensured that the event was conducted seamlessly.
Our heartfelt thanks also go to the health workers, including Asha Karmis, ANMs, and other local health workers, who volunteered their time and expertise. Their dedication to serving the community was evident in their tireless efforts throughout the two days. Without their invaluable contributions, this event would not have been as impactful.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the fraternity of Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya. Their expertise and commitment to eye care have made a significant difference in the lives of many. Their collaboration with Udgam Foundation on this project highlights their dedication to extending healthcare beyond the confines of the hospital, reaching out to those who need it most.
The success of the eye-checkup camp is also a testament to the strong sense of community in Guwahati. We were overwhelmed by the response from the local residents, with a total of 194 people attending the camp to have their eyes tested. The turnout reflects the trust and faith that the community places in initiatives like ours. We are humbled by their participation and their willingness to prioritize their health.
Among the patients who attended the camp, 21 individuals were diagnosed with cataracts, while 24 were found to have refractive errors. These diagnoses are crucial, as early detection can lead to better treatment outcomes and improved quality of life. We are committed to ensuring that these individuals receive the necessary follow-up care and support.
The success of this inaugural event has strengthened our resolve to continue serving the community. At Udgam Foundation, we believe that healthcare is a fundamental right, and we are committed to making it accessible to all, especially the underprivileged. This eye-checkup camp is just the beginning of many more such initiatives that we plan to undertake in the future.
